Since the beginning of this year, the competitiveness of Chinese construction machinery products in the international market has continued to improve, and the export landscape has been expanding. Data shows that from January to September this year, the total export value of Chinese construction machinery equipment and parts increased by 13.4% year-on-year. Taking industrial vehicles as an example, exports of this category increased by 2.8% in the first nine months of this year. Among them, electric industrial vehicles accounted for 50% of the total export share.

Reporters learned from visits to enterprises that since the beginning of this year, construction machinery companies in our city have continued to make efforts in overseas market expansion, digital and intelligent layout, product iteration and upgrading, and green and low-carbon upgrading, and have maintained a steady and upward development trend overall.

"Currently, there are over 100 companies in the city involved in automotive supply chain support businesses," said a relevant official from the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. "From a segmented perspective, in addition to manufacturers that specifically support new energy companies, there are also automotive parts manufacturers that have expanded into industries such as 'four-wheel drive and belt' and construction machinery, with an annual output value of nearly 20 billion yuan."

Inside the workshop of Quanzhou Minjia Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Minjia Machinery), workers are busy at their equipment, where chassis parts for construction machinery are "born." As a subsidiary of Quanzhou Huamao Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., Minjia Machinery officially began operations last December and has become a significant growth driver for the company's overall performance this year. "With the implementation of national policies such as 'new infrastructure,' and especially the rapid rise in demand for new energy and intelligent construction machinery products, the company is currently showing a trend of 'steady growth and steady quality improvement,'" Su Shaoxiong, deputy general manager of Minjia Machinery, told reporters. Relying on the technical and resource support of its parent company, Minjia Machinery mainly targets the mid-to-high-end market and has become a first-tier supplier for major domestic and international construction machinery manufacturers such as Sany Heavy Industry, XCMG Group, Hitachi, and Kubota. "Currently, a new project has also been launched, and products are exported to developed countries such as Europe and the United States."

Since the beginning of this year, Quanzhou Minda Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Minda Machinery) has seen its performance increase by approximately 20%. "Our core products are track rollers, idler wheels, drive wheels, carrier rollers, and tracks—the 'four wheels and one track'—and this year, the company's growth is mainly driven by the increased production capacity of the new plant and the upgrading of the old plant," revealed Lin Zhimin, Assistant General Manager of the company. He explained that the company gradually relocated to the new plant in March and April of last year, and the relocation was basically completed by the end of the year. "Currently, the company's development is stable and progressing, with overall orders booked until January next year. Our products are mainly exported to the EU, Japan, Southeast Asia, and other countries and regions, and we have entered the supply chain systems of international construction machinery brands such as Liebherr, ITM, and KOB. In the domestic market, we mainly supply components to OEMs such as XCMG, Lingong, and Liugong."

According to Su Shaoxiong, the construction machinery chassis sector is currently at a critical juncture, shifting from quantitative growth to qualitative improvement. The core of competition is moving from scale and cost to technology, brand, supply chain stability, and globalization capabilities. "This is also the initial motivation for establishing the subsidiary," he frankly stated. He explained that OEMs now have increasingly higher requirements for the lifespan, wear resistance, and lightweighting of chassis components, and customers prefer high-end components from domestic brands with stable performance and reliable supply. "This presents both challenges and new opportunities for the company. In recent years, the company has maintained a high level of R&D investment, with an average annual R&D investment of approximately 4% of revenue."

"Wear resistance, toughness, and fatigue strength are the core focus of technological innovation," Su Shaoxiong told reporters. For example, through continuous process improvement, the service life of products such as tracks and track rollers is constantly extended; specialized and automated production lines are invested in to improve processing accuracy and production efficiency; at the same time, the product fatigue testing capabilities are continuously enhanced to simulate extreme working conditions and use data to drive product design and process improvement.

It is reported that Minda Machinery invests over 5 million yuan annually in R&D, with innovation accounting for approximately 5.5% of revenue. "Intelligentization, equipment upgrades, and production process improvements are the main directions of innovation," Lin Zhimin told reporters. He added that technological upgrades are accelerating, and companies that fail to keep up will be eliminated by the market. The company regularly organizes training and learning opportunities for its R&D department; while working with clients, the R&D department also goes to the production line to follow up on product development and production; and a sample team, led by the R&D department and with the participation of the production, quality control, and purchasing departments, is established to produce high-quality samples and data through a project-based approach. "The high standards of our clients are also driving the company to continuously improve on the path of innovation. Next year, we will also focus on expanding into markets such as Australia, the Middle East, and Russia."

"In the construction of the new factory, we laid out the workshop entirely according to standardized procedures," Lin Zhimin revealed. Leveraging the upgraded space, the entire production line can be integrated as a whole, with each link interconnected, thereby optimizing the process. Production equipment has also been upgraded, gradually increasing the automation rate within the workshop and improving production efficiency by 30%.

Digital applications are gradually penetrating the market. Lin Zhimin told reporters that in recent years, the company has upgraded its existing ERP system based on its own circumstances, relaunching a production, sales, and inventory integrated ERP system. Through information and digital applications, the company has achieved full-process control of products from production to delivery, promoting integrated production and sales collaboration. "In the past, information was recorded manually. Now, information traceability can be achieved through the system."
